That is a great observation! I cannot say at this time if volatility is a better indicator for portfolio performance, but it has given me an idea for a future article. If I have time I will try writing an article that discusses the correlation between coin volatility and performance with rebalancing. I will try looking for other relationships besides volatility as well.
